About ITHACON

ITHACON began in 1976, and has been held every year since with the exception of 2020, when we had to cancel due to COVID. Over all those years, ITHACON has maintained a primary focus on comic books, not movies, TV, wrestling, or other parts of the entertainment industry, although we welcome those from related fandoms.

ITHACON is now organized and run by the students in the Ithaca College School of Business course MGMT 29800 ITHACON: Promoting and Managing Conventions. We believe this course to be unique in the US in that it allows the students to take full responsibility for an actual ongoing convention. Students assume the various roles in planning, promoting, and managing the convention, while those of us who have been involved for many years shift to mentoring roles.

ITHACON has continued to be run as a fan convention, by fans and for fans. We treat comic book creators as guests; we never charge them for tables. The many guests we have each year means that the members can actually chat with the guests rather than wait in line for a brief photo op. Most comics creators began as fans themselves, and we have been very fortunate to have had the support of many prominent comic creators over the years who have waived their customary appearance fees to participate. If you want to experience a comic con as they were in the 1970's, come to ITHACON!

None of the organizers of ITHACON are compensated and all profits are reinvested for future events. This allows us to offer convention membership at a fraction of the cost of other conventions. To be an attendee at ITHACON is like being an official member of the comics community. Join us for a weekend of membership!

All ITHACON members must check in and receive a badge at Registration.
Badges must be worn at all times.
Membership is not transferrable, and badges may not be shared or passed on to others.
Day-of-show membership sales and registration are in the northwest entrance to the Campus Center nearest Williams Hall.
BONUS! The first 200 to purchase tickets will receive a "swag bag" when they check in! The value of the items in the swag bag is expected to exceed the cost of membership. (Limit 1 per person.)
Adult membership: $20.00 (includes both days)
Adult Sunday only membership: $10.00
Ithaca College student/staff membership: $10.00 (includes both days, ID card required)
Youth membership, ages 7-17: $5.00
Kids 6 and under are FREE but must be accompanied by an adult with a ticket and must have their own tickets.
Adult members can bring up to two kids for FREE! But you must "buy" them the free ticket when you buy your own!

Note: these prices include all service charges and taxes. You will not see additional costs when you purchase memberships.
Families: If the cost of membership for your whole family presents a hardship, please contact us at comicbookclubofithaca@gmail.com as some scholarship funds are available.
Ticket purchases are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled.
YES, you should come in costume!

MEMBERSHIP POLICIES

SUPERVISION: Parent/Guardians are advised and are required/expected to maintain supervision of their minor children throughout the event. Parents/Guardians are expected to remain in activity rooms with their minor child, and are not to drop off their child in those rooms or any other spaces.

EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM (Optional): Parents/Guardians are advised that they may download the Rave Guardian App if they wish to receive emergency campus notifications while the minor is present on the College campus.
