SAFETY  INFORMATION 

In order to ensure a smooth and safe ITHACON™ experience we request that you read the safety information below prior to the convention.

Information for parents/guardians of attending minors:

Except for currently enrolled Ithaca College students, visitors to ITHACON 2025 who are minors (under 18) must be accompanied by their parent/guardian and remain under their direct supervision at all times.

 

Parent/Guardians are advised and are required/expected to maintain supervision of their minor children throughout the event. Parents/Guardians are expected to remain in activity rooms with their minor child, and are not to drop off their child in those rooms or any other spaces.

ITHACON™ cosplay guide:

Cosplay Consent Policy:
 - COSPLAY DOES NOT MEAN CONSENT.
 - ITHACON™  has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for anybody being touched or harassed, especially as a result of their cosplay.
 - Please report any danger or discomfort to any staff member of ITHACON™, who will relay the offense to campus security.
 - Anyone who commits an offense will be removed from the convention.

 

Cosplay Rules:

 - Costumes and props must be checked during check-in to ensure the safety and appropriateness of them.
 - As ITHACON is a family event, cosplays should be appropriate and contain no lewd imagery and 
 - At certain times, due to crowds and safety issues, people in oversized costumes may be asked to leave heavily congested areas.
 

Cosplay Weapons Policy: 

 - All costume props and weapons must conform to state and federal law.
 - As ITHACON™ takes place on a college campus with its own weapons policy to protect students and staff, cosplaying attendees may only display their weapons in designated  ITHACON™ spaces, where props and costume weapons are permitted
 - No real and/or functioning weapons are allowed.
 - Fake guns must have a clear, orange tip to signify that they are not real.
 - Projectile costume weapons must be rendered inoperable.
 - Prop swords, scythes, clubs, etc. must be blunted with a kind of foam.
 - Unrealistic and toy guns such as those sourced from modern children's programming (made of brightly coloured plastics, with flashing lights and stickers), or that are clearly science fiction based (phasers, plasma guns, blasters) are permitted; maximum size is 150cm.
 - Whips are permitted if kept coiled.
 - Shields are allowed, including lightweight metal, as long as they do not exceed 3 feet in height or width or have any sharp edges
 - Do not bring any items restricted or prohibited from being carried by law
 - If you are asked to give up your weapon, you MUST COMPLY. Your weapon will be returned to you once you leave the convention.
 - If you are not willing to comply with these policies, please do not bring your costume props or weapons to ITHACON™.
 - ITHACON™ reserves the right to remove any individual in violation of these terms at any time.
